Paddock to Plate Market Tour and Cooking Class

March brings an abundance of fantastic produce, and this very special tour and class will show you delicious and imaginative ways to make the most of the seasons harvest.

Tawnya Bahr leads a very special guided culinary tour of Pyrmont Growers Market, meeting local farmers and producers. Take part in private tastings of fresh produce, talk to the growers and return to The Essential Kitchen for a hands-on cooking class. The east asian menu has been composed by Wanitha Tanasingam, ambassador for Malaysia Kitchens Australia. 

Growing up in Penang, Wanitha moved to Australia in 1982, started a restaurant and founded a cooking school. She learned the art of cooking at her father's side – he was the Head Chef for the Kedah Royal Family in Malaysia. Wanitha will share her secrets for creating beautiful food at home.

"Food is togetherness, creating deep connections between people, place and soil, linking the globe across time and culture. Cooking is history. Every dish tells a story."

 The details:

  • Meet at The Essential Café, Rozelle at 7:30am
  • Private bus to Pyrmont Growers Market
  • Leave the Market at 9:30am
  • Return to The Essential Ingredient
  • Cooking class from 10:00-1:00
